"Will you please be careful?!" Hideki snarled at the men trying to transport his new acquisition from trailer to pool without upending the tank she was in. So far, they were having limited success, as water kept sloshing over the edge of the tank each time one so much as shifted his weight.
I wonder if the Slave Master knows he employs so many idiots, Hideki realized as the men laboured at their task. He resolved that he would simply flay them alive if they bungled now, when his prize was at last within reach. He had not paid 50,000 yen and built this new pool solely for the purpose of housing his new...guest...so they could kill her the moment she arrived at his doorstep.
Finally, the critical moments passed and she was safely deposited in her new home. Hideki approached the men to give them the remaining 25,000 that he owed. He had driven a hard bargain this time, insisting that the rest of the deposit would only be paid if and when his delicate acquisition was safe in her custom built lair. Hideki wasn't the sort to renege on a bargain, especially one that promised him an exotic sort of kemono that he was reasonably certain no one else owned in Tokyo.
He waited until the men were scarce to examine his new prize, striding to the end of the deck that had been constructed especially for the purpose of viewing her. Ah, there she was! Such a beautiful creature! Not in the way that his Garnet was beautiful, of course, but still breathtaking.
"Hello, my dear," he purred. "I do hope your new home is to your liking." In the event that it was not, he could always drag Garnet along on the hunt for accessories.

Splash! Over the edge of the tank went a good amount of water as it was moved, the water sloshing about with the motion. Sort of like the ocean! Only, not large, pretty, or natural. Quite the contrary, it was small, and the swaying water was entirely erratic. The ocean? Not so much. It was quite nerve-wracking. Even worse? Being shifted around with the water. As a fish kemono, she was a strong swimmer -- but there was no place to just steady swim and evade the horrid shifting.
It made her feel not only irritated, but ill. As had the multiple trips in what the humans called 'vans' and 'airplanes' that brought her to.. wherever the hell she was not. No, Karenza was not a happy fishy-girl as she shifted from one end of the tank to the next, eyeing the humans transporting her with an unpleasant look of pure disdain.
Finally; they seemed to be finished this irrational moving about; and the 'mermaid' was dropped into a new tank. Well, a swimming pool. Much less cramped than the tanks she had been in since being netted from the ocean. The instant she hit the new water, she moved to the surface; tail slapping the water. Trying to splash the annoyance that had transported her; not the dark haired man, he hadn't been annoying. Then, darted off to ensure no punishment could result. ..Of course; Kare did decide, only a moment after she had taken off, top-speed, it might be a good idea to investigate cautiously.
So she did; only pausing when the man walked onto a dock, speaking. Cautiously, the blue-haired girl moved to the surface, listening a short distance off. "..Yes." Well, he seemed nice. For a human.

She was apparently not the talkative sort, which was preferable to him than her cursing the day he was born, or perhaps there was simply nothing more to say at this point.
"Good," he said, pulling up a chair so that he could be a little more comfortable when speaking with her. "Should you require anything more, you need only ask, and I will make the necessary arrangements." He had already taken steps to appoint a few members of his staff who were exclusively responsible for caring for her in his absence.
"Ah, but how rude of me not to introduce myself," he said, inclining his head since a proper bow would have been awkward from his position. "Yoshida Hideki, you may refer to me however you wish, although I would prefer either Mr. Yoshida or Hideki, but there are some who refer to me as Master, if you prefer formalities." He leaned back in his chair, touching the tips of his fingers together. "What is your name, my dear?"

Observing the man as he drew up a chair; not that she knew what it was called. They sort of lacked chairs under the sea. And well.. picture trying to sit in a chair with a fish tail? Haha. Fun. Said tail swished a bit now, then stilled. She was perfectly capable of just.. floating there. So, that's what she'd do, instead of wasting the effort swimming in place. Enough of that had been done in the little tank. Ick.
This human seemed relatively nice -- not like the ones at the 'auction' place. Another thing in which, living in the ocean her whole life, she was unaware. "Thank you." A simple response to his statement, before Karenza listened to the next part. The human's name was Hideki Yoshida; or.. Yoshida Hideki as his culture said it -- she'd call him Mr. Yoshida, for now. ..Master? Definitely not. But.. Hideki was a bit too informal even for her taste. It seemed rude. Not to say miss fishy was polite; but, treated respectfully, she could behave respectfully, too.
"Karenza Ryer. My family mostly called me Karen or Kare, though." Her family. She missed them, now. Perhaps the aqua-haired girl would've been wise to listen to the older fish Kemono and not teased the humans? Then again, why would she? Her brother and herself hadn't listened about not teasing a shark, and that only resulted in him getting killed! That would never teach her to listen, would it? Of course it did. She didn't tease sharks anymore -- she froze in fear of them.

"Karenza..." Hideki rolled the name around on his tongue, liking the sound of it. "Excellent, there are other kemono in my household, so I suspect you shall not lack for company, despite your...locomotive impediment..."
He flipped out his phone and sent a quick text message to a particularly useful man he kept on his payroll. Could he be here in a few minutes? In seconds, he received an answer back in the affirmative. "Now, there's but one more order of business that needs to be conducted before I leave you to your own devices. Ah! Do you have a preferred diet, Karenza? Any favourite foods? The men at the auctions were dreadfully obtuse regarding the specifics of your care." He made a note to pass on this information to the staff members who were entrusted with her care, along with strict instructions that they were to adhere to his guidelines to the letter, else they would be punished, and he was loathe to punish anyone unless it was completely necessary...or consensual...

"Oh?" Other kemono, that could be a good thing. Well, unless there was a shark. That.. not so good. The idea of a shark kemono horrified her, actually; and she skimmed the water for any signs of other aquatics. No, no sharks in sight. Thank god.
The phone caught her attention. And lured the fish kemono a bit closer, peering at it. Oh, humans. Such.. strange beings. Whatthehellwasthatthing..? That was most definitely her first, second, and third thought. Actually, it was about the only thing she was thinking. There most certaintly was nothing like that underwater. Well.. sometimes. But they were dead and broken, most often. How fascinating!
The kemono shifted herself, tail moving forward as if she was sitting in the water; the finned tip breaking the surface and twitching idly. ..Sort of like an otter when it had an oyster to crack. The question had her thinking for a moment. "Pretty much any fish or sea-plant, as long as they're non-toxic is fine.. I don't eat much, really." But, when she did, she wasn't exceedingly picky. Whatever they threw in was fine.
There weren't supermarkets under the sea. Whatever you could catch was dinner! ..Unless it caught you first. Then.. not dinner. Swim, swim like hell.

Hideki nodded, already placing an order of fresh fish as fast as his fingers could type. One nice thing about living in a nation made up of islands was that there was no shortage of fish.
He noticed how the kemono appeared to be fascinated by the phone and couldn't help smiling to himself. "Have you never seen one of these before?" He asked, turning the screen towards her. "It lets me speak to others over long distances, among other things." He snapped it shut abruptly and slid it into his pocket again.
He heard a knock on the window behind him, one of his maids, come to inform him that Uedo-san, the man he had sent for a moment ago, had arrived. Things just seemed to be going his way today, fantastic.
"Karenza," he said as he approached the deck, Uedo trailing behind with the tools of his trade. "Would you mind coming within reach? Uedo-san is going to remove that unsightly collar of yours." He hated those collars: the look of them, the feel of them, the whole concept of them. None of his employees wore them, the necklace he issued to each one was enough to prevent any harm from befalling them. In the event that it wasn't enough. Well, pain was often an effective deterrent.

Garnet enjoyed his new life. So comfortable and Hideki gave him all kinds of attention. Nothing could be better then this. So when he heard Hideki come home, Garnet decided he would have to surprise him. To thank him.
To his new wardrobe! Searching through new and beautiful clothes, Garnet picked out something to accentuate his little, feathery-soft wings. As much as his previous master wanted him to hide said features, Hideki adored them! It made Garnet purr with pleasure. So tight pants and a sleeveless shirt with an open back. He fashioned on a collar and touched up his hair before bounding out of the bathroom and toward Hideki's voice.
It was leading him toward the back...where the new pool had been built. It caused hideous noises! There was no chance of lazily sleeping at home in the sun. No chance of peace. It did help that some of the men working on the pool were quite handsome. What was in the pool now, however, wasn't handsome. It was a mermaid..and it had all of Hideki's attention. Garnet huffed and tantrumed to himself before walking out with a spiteful look in his eyes.
"Awww, Hideki.. You brought home Sushi-to-be. How nice." He cooed, snuggling up to Hideki.

Hideki was so focused on Uedo's work that he didn't hear when Garnet joined him on the deck. He pressed up against him, and he automatically extended his arm to pull the demonic kemono close. A moment later, his eyes narrowed at the mention of sushi.
"She is not food..." he growled, using a tone of voice that he had not yet used in the kemono's presence. "This is Karenza, Garnet darling. She is a guest here." He ran a finger along his shoulders. "And is not to be molested in any way." He flicked his shoulder. "Is that understood?" He didn't think it was necessary to elaborate as to what sort of punishment he would mete out for disobedience, but Garnet was a vain creature, and vanity was so easy to exploit.
